Supporting our children with SEND - The Fairfield Approach

At Fairfield Primary Academy our vision is for all of our children to emerge from Fairfield as positive, independent, inquisitive individuals; with the ability and desire to make the world a better place as lifelong learners.

We are committed to the equal inclusion of all children in all areas of school life. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our children and aim to meet the needs of all pupils to ensure that they make the best possible progress both academically and socially.

Our SEND team work with our staff, children with SEND and their parents so that children achieve their very best potential

Our teaching staff support the needs of our children with the highest level of need. This helps to ensure that we are closing the gaps in our children's learning more quickly.

Weekly deep dives, book and/or planning scrutinies and pupil voice will be carried out by SLT, year group leaders and CAT teams to ensure that the needs of all our children with SEND are met and that the quality of teaching and learning for these children is high, is appropriate for their needs and enables them to make good progress that is at least in line with their peers.

Any children with SEND are identified and monitored in accordance with our SEND Policy (see the link above) and relevant support and interventions are then put in place to meet their needs. Wherever possible, we try to ensure that all our children with SEND are taught alongside their peers in their classrooms and are receiving Quality First Teaching from their class teacher.

At Fairfield, we pride ourselves on our strong working relationship with our parent/carers of our children with SEND. We adopt a collaborative approach as we know this is conducive to helping our children with SEND meet and often exceed their potential. We do this through: daily meet and greet, newsletters, pupil/parent meetings, parental questionnaires, monthly SEND surgeries, termly pupil SEND provision plan meetings, Annual EHC Plan meetings, Personal Education Plans (PEP) reviews/ Looked After Child (LAC) Meetings.

If you would like to find out more about what we offer at Fairfield, please take a look at our 'Local offer' which is available on the website (see the link above) or arrange a time to pop in and chat to your child's class teacher. You can also arrange to see one of our SEND Team via your child's class teacher or by contacting the office to arrange a meeting.
